General information
The Secondary Grammar school "Gymnazium" was founded in 1954. That means it has very long 54 years tradition. In 2000 it was named after the first Slovak astronaut Ivan Bella.
Our school is not very big, it has got 359 students. But as to the quality of education it is one of the best in our region. It was proclaimed "a school of the year".
The long track of the Gymnazium of Ivan Bella builds on the fifth year of primary school and leads to the high school degree (Maturita) in eight years (one type) and on the ninth year of primary school and leads to the high school degree in four years (other type).
Our school is concentrated on languages teaching especially English. We have been teaching French, Spanish, German languages and some of students have been learning Russian language, too. We have very good results in language competitions as well as in Chemistry, Maths, and Geography. Our students look part in international competitions and were very successful. In Russian and geographical competitions were winners. We have Slovak international contestant in ski sport. Our students have got good skills in working with computers. Gymnazium of Ivan Bella prepares students for university as well as fore life and work. They are good educated for university study and are successful.
